GM Machinery Movers is seeking a skilled and dedicated CNC Field Service Technician to provide on-site installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair services for a wide range of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machinery. This role is essential for ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of our clients’ critical industrial equipment, often immediately following or in conjunction with our machinery relocation services. The ideal candidate will possess strong diagnostic abilities, excellent customer service skills, and a willingness to travel extensively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform on-site installation, commissioning, and calibration of new and relocated CNC machines, including milling machines, lathes, grinders, and other automated equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and software issues on various CNC machine brands and control systems (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, Mitsubishi, etc.).
- Execute timely and effective repairs, including replacing defective components, re-aligning parts, and performing adjustments to bring machines back to optimal operating condition.
- Conduct preventative maintenance (PMs) according to manufacturer specifications and client schedules to minimize downtime and extend machine life.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical blueprints, PLC ladder logic, and technical manuals to aid in diagnostics and repairs.
- Provide technical support and training to client personnel on machine operation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting procedures.
- Document all service activities accurately, including work performed, parts used, hours spent, and any recommendations for future service.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their issues, explain solutions, and manage expectations.
- Work independently in field environments, managing time and resources efficiently to meet service deadlines.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, both company and client-site specific, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, representing GM Machinery Movers with integrity.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or vocational training in industrial automation, mechatronics, electronics, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a CNC Field Service Technician or similar role, servicing industrial CNC machinery.
- Proven expertise in troubleshooting and repairing electrical control systems (up to 480V), mechanical components, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Familiarity with various CNC control systems and programming concepts.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.) and precision measuring instruments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex technical issues.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage a flexible travel schedule.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Capable of standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in industrial environments with varying noise levels, temperatures, and potential exposure to dust, oils, and coolants.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights when necessary.
