Job Summary: GM Machinery Movers is seeking highly skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Riggers/Machinery Movers to join our dynamic team. This critical role involves the safe and efficient relocation, installation, and decommissioning of industrial machinery and heavy equipment across various industries. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work collaboratively in challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely and efficiently rig, hoist, lift, and move heavy industrial machinery and equipment using specialized tools and techniques.
  • Operate various heavy lifting equipment, including forklifts (up to 40K+ lbs), hydraulic gantries, industrial skates, jack-and-slide systems, and cranes (as certified).
  • Interpret rigging plans, blueprints, and engineering drawings to execute precise machinery placement and leveling.
  • Perform accurate measurements, calculations, and inspections to ensure safe and balanced loads.
  • Prepare work sites, including clearing paths, laying down matting, and setting up rigging equipment.
  • Disassemble and reassemble machinery components as required for transport or installation.
  • Load and secure machinery onto specialized transport vehicles, ensuring compliance 
  • with all safety and DOT regulations.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly with supervisors, fellow crew members, and clients.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain and inspect rigging equipment, ensuring it is in good working order and reporting any deficiencies.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and represent GM Machinery Movers professionally on job sites.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical certifications or vocational training preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in heavy rigging, machinery moving, or industrial relocation.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in operating heavy-duty forklifts (20K+ lbs required, 40K+ lbs preferred) and other material handling equipment.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Rigger I/II certification strongly preferred. Crane Operator certification (NCCCO or equivalent) is a significant plus.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL A preferred.
  • Strong understanding of load dynamics, center of gravity, and rigging principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and rigging plans.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to travel locally and regionally, and work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime, as project demands.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy objects (up to 75 lbs) regularly.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and in industrial environments (noise, dust, varying temperatures).
