GM Machinery Movers is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Logistics & Transportation Coordinator to manage the efficient movement of industrial machinery and heavy equipment. This role is crucial for planning, coordinating, and optimizing transportation routes, ensuring timely deliveries, and managing inventory for both project-specific and warehousing needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate all aspects of machinery transportation, including route optimization, permitting (oversize/overweight), and escort services.
- Communicate effectively with clients, internal teams (riggers, project managers), carriers, and vendors to ensure seamless logistics operations.
- Source and manage relationships with third-party trucking companies and specialized heavy-haul carriers.
- Prepare and process all necessary documentation for transportation, including bills of lading, customs paperwork (if applicable), permits, and insurance certificates.
- Track and monitor shipments from origin to destination, providing real-time updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Manage industrial warehousing and storage logistics, including inventory tracking, space allocation, and receiving/shipping processes.
- Negotiate rates with carriers and other service providers to ensure cost-effective solutions while maintaining service quality.
- Address and resolve any transportation-related issues or delays promptly and effectively.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations (e.g., DOT, FMCSA).
- Maintain accurate records of all logistics activities, expenses, and performance metrics.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for logistics processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in logistics, transportation coordination, or supply chain management, preferably within the heavy haul, industrial, or construction sectors.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, permitting processes for oversized/overweight loads, and transportation best practices.
- Proficiency in logistics software, TMS (Transportation Management Systems), and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:
